Consider all that has occurred in Act IV: the Friar's plan, Juliet's "consent" to marry Paris, preparation for the wedding, and Juliet's "death".
Write a lengthy (2 paragraphs-ish or so) journal in the voice of a major characterof your choice based on any or all of these things that the character has been involved with. Be specific and consider the character's personality. I should be able to recognize who you are portraying through your journal.

I told my mom I was not going to marry Paris. So, I got some poison from Friar Lawerence to make my body act like I'm dead. It makes my pulse lower so they cant feel it, and it freezes my body. My mom and dad thought I was dead so did Romeo. Romeo found out but there was nothing I can do to stop him. I couldnt talk or anything so i couldnt stop him from doing anything.
ReplyDeleteI seriously feel bad for what i did. But i was not going to let my parents make me marry Paris. Someone i didnt and will never love.
Okay, Friar Lawrence told me I have to get this package to Romeo. It's VERY important apparently. I mean of course it it! It decides these two lover's lives from here on out! I have to make sure I give this to Romeo.

Paris has told me of Capulet's decision. I know now that I must help Juliet find her way out of this untimely predicament, but now after speaking with Paris I realize that there is no place in this world where Juliet will ever be truly happy other than in the arms of her newly acquired husband, Romeo.
ReplyDeleteFor now, the best I can suggest is for her to trick her way out of this wedding. She must fake her death, using one of the many plants I have attained and studied. I know of a plant, which when made into a serum will allow the drinker to lay sleeping, but outwardly appearing dead, and wake not forty-eight hours later. This may be a way for Juliet to find peace, even if it means I must lie to her family, forever.
After my failed attempts of begging my parents to not marry Paris, I decided to go to Friar Lawrence' cell. I needed his advice, or a plan to get out of all this. At first, I could see that Friar Lawrence didn't have much to say to me, and so I told him the truth--if I had to marry Paris, I'd much rather die. He knew I wasn't bluffing so he gave me a potion. He told me of all the things the potion would do, but the bottomline is I would appear to be dead, and then I'd be place in the family tomb. The Friar would send word to Romeo of our plan, and he'd come get me after the potion wore off in 2 days. It would be so easy to just run away together, since he is banished and everyone would think I am dead. Right before I took the potion, I had a few fears. I feared that maybe Romeo wouldn't come in time and that I'd be with a bunch of dead bodies and eventually go mad. But I knew I had to do it if I didn't want to marry Paris because I loved Romeo.
ReplyDeleteomg. i do not want to marry paris but its whatever my parents want. Ok so instead of marrying him i went to Friar Lawrence to get his help. I had to explain the whole story of why i needed his help. After a while of explaining, he gave me some kind of poison to make it seem like i am dead when im really not. Then he told me he would send Romeo the details of our little plan. So many thoughts were running through my head, but i knew this was right because i could see this working. Everyone would be at my funeral while i would be running off to live with my love Romeo.
ReplyDeletei have decided to tell my mom the i would marry paris but only because i have dicided to go retrieve a potion from the friar to use to fake my death so i can see again my dearest romeo oh i hope he is able to came back. i shall go to the friars to day and i so hope that no one finds out of my plan that would be tragic but oh well.
ReplyDeleteMy own mother doesnt even know how old i am. Im raised by the nurse. it was her nipple i sucked on. I kissed a boy i met after 30 seconds and now im madly in love with him. Im supposed to hate him but i find that impossible. i thought i wanted to stay single forever. but now that i met him i know there isnt any chance of that. Romeo showed up under my balcony and we talked for a long time . i know i wanna marry him . hes definitely the one for me. im going to send my nurse after him tomorrow to get all the plans arranged. she bettere hurry up . idk what ill do if he doesnt wanna marry me. hes my one and only. ohh gosh. shes back. he said yes were getting married! Romeo killed my cousin tybalt today. his punishment is beinng banished. idk what to do. idk how long it will be before i get too see him again. my parents told me im going to marry paris . but i cant. i love romeo and i told my mother i was married to him she just didnt listen. idk what im going to do. Since romeo is banished and im his wife i want to go with him, but the only way to get out of marrying paris is if i fake my death. so my plan consists of going to the friar getting a poison that will slow my heart down and then make it seem like im dead.

ReplyDeleteBut if the thing you talk about is true...about the statement you said that you would rather die before you marry Paris. I could help you with that if you want. The thing i will give will not kill you but you well seem like you are. This is the first time i have gave this to someone and i could end up being killed if someone would end up finding out about it but it doesn't matter i will do it for you.
No one in my family knows about my secret. I can't marry Paris! I'm already married. I have to do something to make it to where i can't be in the ceremony that wouldn't shame my family... I shall ask Friar Lawrence! He is a philosopher and knows a great deal about a lot. He surely would know a way to unite me with my dear lord Romeo!

Goodness whats taking them so long, oh ill just go up there myself! Bring Juliet her soon to be husband is here still waiting. What the heck is going on, i cant believe this, i dont know what to say... Oh Friar Juliet isnt ready, she has died. On the night before shes supposed to get married too. Why is this all happening now! Now there is no wedding, and no more Juliet. Everyone must prepare for a funeral, instead of the wedding.

ReplyDeleteokay so my parents have always been thinking about me marrying paris. i never wanted to and right now he is asking them if he can marry me. my father tells him its alright and i beg not to. to get my way i got some poison stuff that makes me feel and look dead but im not really. i am truly sorry for romeo thinking that im dead. this was the only way and i have a feeling since i took it wrong that things could go bad real fast.

Oh poor poor Juliet. I cannot believe she wont marry paris. As her mother, i find this hard to believe. Only a day or two ago she said she would look at paris in a way that I had wanted her to look at paris. How could she go back on her word like this? and then my husband pretty much told her she could live on the streets and die for all he cared! How could HE say such a thing to his own daughter?

OHHH NOOOO! she cant be dead oh lord almighty please noo! We must bury her at once. She needs the most wonderful burial in the capulet vault.
I really don't want to marry Paris, but my parents think its the best for me, but they don't know whats best for me. Besides if they knew me and Romeo were married they would never approve.

I can not marry paris. I am already married. I dont no what else to do but take my own life. Friar please tell me a solution. O thank you friar. I hope this plan works. Im kinda worried that i am goin to be stuck in the coffin and maybe they wont come and get me. I will be left in there. I would rather do that then marry paris tho.

I really don't know if this vial is the best thing for me. What if the Friar's plan doesn't work? What if it's poisoned and the Friar's just giving it to me as a cop-out? What if my Romeo doesn't get the letter and I have to lay with Dead Men? What if nothing happens at all and I have to marry that Creep, Paris? I would rather jump off buildings and lie with bears and snakes than have to marry Paris. I just hope all plans go well and I can live happily ever after with my beloved Romeo.
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope the poison I mad for Juliet is the right mixture. I hope I put all the right ingredients together to make it potent for only a couple days. If I didn't, I'm a dead man for sure. I'm confident in my plan of action.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I will give Juliet the poison and instruct her to drink it the night before the wedding with some liquer. Then, the family will discover her in the morning and have a great funeral. At this point, I will have sent Romeo the plans of action so as to not be alarmed if he hears of Juliets death. After that, the family will have Juliet put in the tomb where Rome and I will obtain her from her temporary death and they can escape town.
