Consider all that has occurred in Act III: the first set of deaths, Romeo's banishment, the Friar's and the Nurse's various interventions, the wedding night, the betrothal of Juliet and Paris, and the lovers' responses to all of this.
Write a lengthy (2 paragraphs-ish or so) journal in the voice of a major characterof your choice based on any or all of these things that the character has been involved with. Be specific and consider the character's personality. I should be able to recognize who you are portraying through your journal.

Today i had to break the news to Juliet that Tybalt was dead because Romeo killed him and Romeo is now banished. At first she freaked out, but then she realized that Romeo isnt dead so she calmed down. I was confused when Juliet was saying good things about the man that killed her own cousin, but she told me she cant say anything bad about her dearest husband.
ReplyDeletei had to go to Friar Lawrence's to give Romeo a ring from Juliet, and get him so he can "comfort" Juliet.
Juliets father told her she has to marry Paris. I agree with him because she will never be able to see Romeo again. So, she just needs to move on
I did not wish haste upon this marriage when I was planning it. However, in light of the recent death of Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, It may well be the best thing for it. Our marriage shall bring joy to her, bring light to this recent despair, and spare her from feeling the pain of her close cousins death any longer.
ReplyDeleteFor now though, my fear rests on my own unknowing of Juliet. I have heard nothing of her take on this marriage, nor does she know of the new date, so close to the present. Perhaps in agreeing to this Thursday, I was being selfish in my want of Juliet, but she needs happiness in this dark time, and the quick marriage shall bring it. But, now the day has been set, my mind wanders to hers. Would I want a marriage so soon after the death of a close ally?
In a few short days, I shall be married to Juliet. Her father, Capulet, has arranged a marriage with a very short preparation time. Come Thursday, Juliet will be mine. His thinking comes from Tybalt's sudden death, and he thinks that the sooner Juliet is married, the less time she'll be able to be AS sad. I agree with Capulet because he is wise and, I would assume, knows what his daughter needs. The only thing that gets to me would be the fact that I don't know exactly what runs through Juliet's mind about this whole ordeal. I dont know if her parent's have had the chance to 'officially' talk to her about it, and I know I have never had the chance. I'm sure everything will be okay though, Juliet is near 14, almost a woman, almost at marriage age. I'd be the best choice for her, and I hope everything runs smoothly and this marriage will brighten Juliet's days, the ones that have turned dark due the loss of her cousin.
ReplyDeleteIts been almost an hour of saying our vows. Look Tybalt is drawing near. NO!! My friend Mercutio has been slain. I shall avenge his death. Now I have my cousins death on my shoulders. Please I hope Juliet can forgive me.
ReplyDeleteBanished!! I would rather die than be banished from my town and wife. Why dont you just kill me? To be banished from this town is a greater punishment then death. Does the prince have no pitty on my soul. Whos that knocking on the door. The nurse. She speaks of good news. Juliet forgives and wishes to see me. Tell Juliet I shall be there shortly.
It seems that Lord Capulet spare no time in the marriage of Juliet and I. Come Thursday, Juliet shall be mine and I should be a happy man. The preparation of this marriage is of a short time, one might become nervous with such pressure, but now I. I am quite impressed that Lord Capulet would give me the honor of being wed to his daughter. I assume that he knows what is best for his daughter which is why he has chosen me for her. If all goes well, this marriage will help dear Juliet get over the tragic loss of her cousin Tybalt.
ReplyDeleteRomeo is being foolish. He should be happy he isnt getting killed for killing someone else. To me he got out of his one easy. Instead he is only being sent away, banished. Now hes crying on my floor like a whiney baby. Of course i have to be the one to cheer him up. All he is worried about is Juliet this Juliet that. And if i say the word banished he gets all worked up again claiming he would rather take death. I told him he is overreacting, maybe he needs to hear it from someone else too. Finally he listens when the nurse tells him to get up and stop acting like a baby! now hes all fine because he get to see juliet one last time.
ReplyDeleteWhat!! whats going on,me and romeo just got married and now my father decides to tell paris that i well be married to him in the matter of a few days. i dont want that, i want to be with romeo why cant my father just understand that but wait i cant tell anyone that i already married so this is going to be a horrible night of my second wedding.

ReplyDeleteI am one of Romeos best friends and our friendship was great. Its a shame i started stuff with tybalt otherwise i probably wouldve still been hanging out with romeo and all of them. I have to admit i probably had that comin to me though.

I cannot marry paris, i just cant. i would rather die than marry him mother. im married to Romeo! oh why would you do this to me! i cannot marry him. i will die on the streets as father says i shall if i dont marry paris because i dont love paris, i love romeo.
I am so pissed off that Romeo was at our party! Why the heck would he be there? I'm not sure but I promised myself that I would avenge the dignity of my household.

I can't believe that Juliet was angry at my acceptance for her to marry Parris. Just a few short days ago she said it was fine and I, as her father, was unsure. Now it is she who doesn't want to marry. I was only thinking of her when I said it. I thought that it would possibly help her to get over the death of her beloved cousin Tybalt. I mean, it's not like she's already married. I guess i was a little hard on her though. But she had it coming. We finally find a husband for her out of our approval and she responds like this?

ReplyDeleteMy Romeo is banished and my cousin is dead. It seems nothing is going right. I really do feel bad about my cuzins death but I cant hate or talk bad about my own husband. Nothing can go right for me. Nurse you must help me to see Romeo one more time before he is banished. Let us have our wedding nite.
ReplyDeleteI cant beleive my love is gone. Banished and me here not knowing when I will see him next. I will not marry paris. Even if my love, romeo, is banished. I do not love paris and i am already married. You do not know that i am married mother but i am trying to tell you. You are just not catching any of the hints. Please do not make me marry him. How could my own dad say such mean things to me? He sure was frusterated about me not wanting to marry paris i wonder what he would say if he knew i was married to Romeo. Nurse, how could you agree with my father. You know I am in love. I do not want to get remarried how can you just tell me to move on. I am so confused on what to do.
My own mother doesnt even know how old i am. Im raised by the nurse. it was her nipple i sucked on. I kissed a boy i met after 30 seconds and now im madly in love with him. Im supposed to hate him but i find that impossible. i thought i wanted to stay single forever. but now that i met him i know there isnt any chance of that. ReplyDeleteOk so there is this fight going on right in front of me. Everyone is arguing. Ohh no this guy did not just kill my best friend. Duude he is gonna get it. Oh my gosh!! i just killed this guy and it felt kinda good. Oh well that's what he gets for killing my friend.

Ohh it just came to my head that he was related to Juliet. Oh no what is she gonna say when i tell her that i killed her cuz and that im kinda banned now. Adrenaline got to my head and i couldn't control myself. And now i feel terrible. =(
I am always willing to defend my great friend Romeo's honor whenever he needs it, but this is one time I wish he would have stood up for himself. This time I opened my mouth up a little too much for Romeo to the wrong person at the wrong time. I should have learned to keep my big mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteBecause of all this, I have lost my life at my friends expense, and I lost my life to Romeo's new relative but enemy. For this I received a sword in my heart and a free trip to afterlife at an all too early age. I will make sure that I haunt both houses for as long as it takes to avenge my death.
I am so mad at that baggage Juliet. Why wouldnt you want to marry a fine man like Paris, i mean he has all the qualities in a man you could ever want. O well she must not be thinking straight right now. She will come around sooner or later
ReplyDeleteOh I'm too much of a pansy to fight Tybalt myself. So now my best friend died and I got banished for killing Tybalt. Now things are definitely more weird with the Capulets.
