  1. 1. The prince stopped the fight. If these peacemakers worked together then they would be able to settle the dispute. In the beginning of the story, in scene i, when the characters were introduced, they foulght but the prince came and broke apart the fight. He threatened them and they were forced to part, but there was no more resentment among them after than there had been before.

  2. 5. Romeo is the one who's "dying" to get married and is in love with a girl other than Juliet. While Juliet believes in staying single her whole life like a nun would.

  3. 2. Mercutio is Romeo's foil because Mercutio is sort of opposite from Romeo. Like, when they were going to the party and Romeo was all depressed and didn't want to dance or have fun, Mercutio was trying to cheer him up. And also we could see that Mercutio is a a little more arrogant, sure of himself, and probably more forward about things than Romeo is. So Mercutio can probably bring out some qualities in Romeo that wouldn't normally show otherwise because of Mercutio's personality and perspective on things.

  4. Chad, you seem to understand Romeo, but are you sure about Juliet? We don't know Juliet well enough to know that. It is Rosaline who wants to live a pious life, not Juliet. She is just hesitant for reasons someone else could probably explain. Any takers?

Shakespeare creates suspense by contiually adding new toils for the many people in love. Many of the characters fall in lust with one another and yet they have yet to realize their true feelings for someone else. Thus the characters are left clueless and sometimes depressed like Romeo. When there really isn't a reason for such angst.

I think they fell in love because thats what they were both looking for at the time. i think that if Romeo hadn't met Rosaline he wouldn't have fallen in love so quickly. Romeo and Juliet both have high social status's so yes i do think they will be a good pair. In those times, social status is what mattered most.

  7. 7. If i was Juliet i would pursue the relationship only becasuse i like taking risks. With Juliet being a Capulet and Romeo being a Montague that is a huge risk to take. Also, by what we know of Romeo and Juliet kissing right away instead of getting to know each other, I believe they are risk takers too.

  8. 1. I'm answering this one mostly because I wasn't sure how to answer the others. As we finished Act I up, we noticed that Capulet had a peace-keeping attitude towards Romeo at the Party. Tybalt did not. This shows the problem. Why the more mature heads of both families may find ways to settle things without violence, the younger teenagers don't tend to think the same way. What Ashley said about the prince breaking up the fight brings up another point. The teenagers who don't fight are doing so due to fear (or in a few cases, it doesn't fit their personality). The attitude of the heads of the houses will change later, I believe, because they will find out about Romeo and Juliet's love eventually. That is a big "no no".

  9. 1.I believe that one thing that could stop the Motagues and Capulets from fueding is the Prince. In the beginning, a few of the children from each house were fueding and apparently making the city unpeaceful. The prince gave them and ultimatum basically saying either things calm down or someone is going to die. I don't know about anybody else, but if someone told me to shut up or die.... I'm pretty sure I would shut up. An obstacle that could lead to more fueding is the "Love" rising between Romeo and Juliet. This could be disfavoring(if that's a word) to the heads of the households if anybody finds out.

  10. 2. I say Mercutio is Romeo's strongest foil because they have different personalities, so Romeo and him have strong conversations. These conversations really show how Romeo is as a person and how he would handle things. A good example is when they are going to the party, when they are talking about dancing and having fun. Romeo isn't going to have fun, but Mercutio tells him he will. Mercutio really brings out Romeo.

  11. 7.If I was Romeo I would not pursue the relationship. Juliet's family would hate me and I barely even know Juliet. Things would definitely be awkward and just annoying. Since Juliet's family would hate me I would maybe have to run away for a girl who I don't even know.

  12. 3. Queen Mab differs from the usual fairytale because she effects dreams. She doesn't grant wishes or anything that you would think of when you hear the word fairy. This is included in the play to make fun of Romeo.

  13. 7. if i was juliet i would not pursue the relationship. To much drama for someone i barely know. all i did was kiss him. Theres always other guys out there who my parents would aprove of and it would be easier to have a relationship with them.

  14. 2)I think the foil for Romeo would have to be mercutio. He tries to convince him the way he feels about Rosaline isnt love. He ends up telling him about some girl on the way to the party and he tries to not think about Rosaline. Mercutio also seems to be pretty sesitive towards other people. Romeo also seems to make a little more sense and not complain as much around mercutio because mercutio doesnt like listening to him complain about rosaline

  15. 7.If i was Juliet i would not take the risk and fallow through with the relationship with Romeo because we found out that the Capulet and Montague family's are not in the best relationship them selves so me and Romeo would have to deal with the fighting over us and how the relationship is going to turn out bad. And that would be to much drama for someone their age to go through and anyways they hardly know any thing about one another except for maybe each others names.

  16. 5. Romeo seems like the type of person who wants something they want it right then and there like with girls too. When he found out Rosline wasnt interested in him he was crushed also showing he falls too hard for people he doesnt know. And mostly he really only beleives he loves them because there pretty. And Juliet seems like she could go along with him, she didnt seem to not like him but she seems as if she would care more that he is a montague

  18. #7 If was Romeo I would not continue seeing Juliet. Our families are not the closest friends and I would realize there are plenty of other women out there. The fued between my family the Montagues and Juliets the Capulets would eventually cause me havoc with me seeing my own family. They would feel betrayed. I would know there are plenty of other women and this one would not be worth the sake of losing my family.

  19. 7)i would continue the relationship. my parents dont have a say in who im with. You cant help who you fall for . So those two couldnt help falling in love. unforunately there just supposed to be enemies.

  20. 1. I believe the Montague and Capulet families could work out their feud easily. If one of them decides they are fed up with it, all they should do is be the bigger person. Let the other think what they want, in the end the family still fighting it, is the one losing.

The Queen Mab speech is very different from the usual fairy tail in a one key way. This way is that the fairy tail of Queen Mab has a more sinister twist to it because it over all is really just leading to lust/temptation instead of happiness and joy.

  22. 3. the queen mab story is different from other fairy tails because for one there arent very many characters, as usual fairy tails have many- snow white has the 7 dwarves, snow white, the witch, Cinderella has Cinderella, the evil step mother, the two sisters, the prince...etc. and as sam said, what you think of with the word fairy doesnt have anything to do with queen mab.

  23. 7)if i was romeo i wouldn't pursue the relationship because it could be dangerous to romeo or juliet considering their from different houses. Also i dont think it would be worth possibly dying for a girl i just met.

  24. Carsen makes a point. There are things worth dying for, but a girl you had met five minutes earlier isn't one of them. :D
