PROLOGUE

At the beginning of the story when Romeo was talking about how he is in love with Juliet but she doesnt love him back. I can connect to that, because I have liked someone alot but they didnt like me back, I was upset, but I wasn't depressed like he is.
ReplyDeleteGood connection Raegan! However, he doesn't actually know Juliet yet. He's actually in love with someone else first!
ReplyDeleteMs. Tester gave away who Romeo IS actually talking about in the first part of the story, but like all of us, your first relationship is never your last. Maybe he will "love" somebody before Juliet again but like the rest of us, he will change his thinking on who he really "loves".
ReplyDeleteWhen there was a 'brawl' over something stupid, i can relate to that because my mom and i fight about everything whether its stupid or not and many times, we forget what we were even arguing about.

ReplyDeleteI can relate to Romeo about how he likes this "girl" a lot and how he doesn't want to move on. I liked someone before and thought it would take forever to move on. My friends also talked to me about moving on just like Romeo's friend.
ReplyDeleteI have friends like romeo's that make me feel better when im down about something. They try to think of ideas and make jokes to forget about it. It doesnt always work but its the thought that counts. Im not gonna mention any names *cough* Kasey Shoup *cough* =)
ReplyDeleteSeriously if i was Juliet I would go for Paris because he is good with her family. She needs to stop being a baby and do what every other girl in that time did. Deal with it! Some of the other girls might not have liked their man either but they got used to it. She should just think for a second about how lucky she is that Paris isn't old and mean like the d00d from that movie with Drew Barrymore about princes and stuff like R&J. He only wanted to marry Drew Barrymore's character so he could be mean to her and because he knew she didn't like him. And you know what! I don't get why Juliet's dad is giving her a choise. Sure she's his daughter but what makes her approval matter. She's 13 and she's a woman. Nuff said. Peace!
ReplyDeleteLike Romeo, when he thinks he's "in love" with Rosaline, I've been sad before when I liked someone and the feelings weren't returned. Also, like Romeo, I have friends who try and cheer me up. For example, when Benvolio was trying to cheer up Romeo and was pretty much telling him to move on and get over it.
ReplyDeleteLike Cher once asked, I do believe in life after love. I once thought I was in love, and realized i was dead wrong. But when that ended i was devastated. Little did i know,the perfect man was right in front of me.
ReplyDeletei can connect with romeo just like most people can. I have liked someone who didnt even notice me. but then i found another guy and figured out he was so much better. but of course there was complications with the guy i liked.
ReplyDeletei believe i can recall many a times that would make me able to relate to the way that romeos friends kinda razz him about things especally a girl.
ReplyDeletei can connect to Juliet in the aspect of i wish things were just a little bit different. in her case she wishes He had a different last name. In my case i wished the person didnt do certain things..

ReplyDeletethe relationship between Romeo and his friends reminds me of how the boys in our school who go around insulting each other, but in the end it was just a way to get some cheap laughs from everyone and nobodies feelings were hurt, it was all just fun and games
ReplyDeleteI can connect to my own character pretty well. And it's because of this: he put the logical or smarter path of less importance to the more just, or friendly path. I've had many situations where I did something for my friends that wasn't the right thing to do, but it cleared them up. For example, not encouraging anybody to do this, but I've lied to my parents so something my friends did wrong wouldn't hurt them. Due to this, I've been grounded for lengths of two months at a time, but it's worth it because to me, friends are more important than anything in life. I respect the Friar for what he's done in the story.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of care between Juliet and her mother. I know from experience in my family that my mother and my grandmother seem to lack true love, it seems replaced rather, by courtesy, and courtesy alone. They never really bond, it's more of a required relationship rather than the actual want of one. The part of the story I get this connection from is in the beginning when Juliet's mother failed to even remember the age of her only daughter.
ReplyDeleteJuliet's new found ability to defy her parents. In today's society, it seems most teens defy their family at one point or another (to varying degrees of intensity and success) and although it seemed extremely hard for her to start, once she did Juliet found it easy to defy her parents one time after another. (marrying romeo, having the wedding night, then refusing to marry paris) I'm getting this from all the way back in act one where juliet obeyed her mother's wishes immediately, to all the way in act four where she actually went so far as to mock poison herself in order to escape marriage with paris.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to when Juliet has the secret from her parents about being wtih someone, but they want her with someone else.
ReplyDeleteMy parents didnt know i was dating this kid and they tried setting me up on a date with the son of someone they went to school with.
I told them i was with someone else in a very subtle way,but they didnt catch it. So, unfortuately i had to go on that date and man was it awkward.
Okay, something in my life has such an obvious connection to Romeo and Juliet, I had to put it on here. So there's this girl that I'd been talking to for a while. And we kept it quiet because of one thing... our parents hate each other. My mom and her dad are ex's and my mom and her mom hated each other as kids. Unfotunately, our parents found out we'd been talking so they took away any way for us to talk. But back in Romeo and Juliet's time, they didn't have cell phones.
ReplyDeletei can connect with juliets situation in a way. She knows what she wants and that is to be with Romeo but at the same time she wants advice from the nurse and she doesnt want to tell her parents what she exactly wants. She does tell them she doesnt want to marry paris but she leaves out the fact that its because she is in love with Romeo. I am not in love. but if i had to tell my parents i was in love with someone they didnt approve of it would take me a while to do it. My dad would be furious.
ReplyDeletei could see how you would want to die for someone you love. I would die for one of my parents. But not if i only knew them for a matter of 5 days. If one of my friends was banished i would also want to run away with them.
ReplyDeletei can connect with juliets parents when they say they hate romeo and do not want her to have anything to do with him. my parents at one time hated who my brother was dating and didnt want him to have anything to do with her
ReplyDeleteI have been through those situations where theres fights going on between your two bestfriends. I can connect with Benvolio having to be the peace maker. Because you want to side with one person, then you decided to side with the other person. While its just eaiser to keep it in the middle and try to work things out.
ReplyDeletei can connect with juliet when she goes to the nurse for advice instead of her parents. there has been many times when i have questions about stuff that i dont go to my parents about i go to another adult that i feel i am closer too.
ReplyDeletejust like shaye, i can connect w/ juliet goin to the nurse instead of her parents because i dont get along with my mom (she isnt the type of person to help w/ my problems, she creates moree) and so i go to someone that i consider my older sister, or my 2nd mom, jamie. and also like shaye im wayy closer to jamie than i am my mom and i know that jamie isnt going to rat me out when i tell her things, or lecture me and i feel that juliet wouldve felt the trust w/ the nurse just like i feel the trust w/ jamie.
ReplyDeletei can connect w/ romeo getting revenge with tybalt after tybalt killed mercutio becuase when people mess w/ my friends in front of me or when im not there, i take it personally, and i defend my FRIENDS. if someone killed any of my friends, especially the ones i can trust to do this for me to, i would probably kill them just like romeo did. rage isnt something easily supressed as romeo didnt.
ReplyDeleteI can sort of connect to Juliet in the way she seems to know what she wants, and seems like she's very persistent and won't give up until she gets what she wants, like when she was determined to NOT marry Paris. I sometimes do the same thing because I really don't like to give up unless there's a really good reason to.
ReplyDeleteI can also kind of connect to both Romeo and Juliet when they first met and instantly liked each other because there was this one time when I "instantly" liked someone that I didn't know too well.
I can connect in the same way kelsey can. There has been a time when i liked someone almost as soon as i met them. i didnt no much about them but i liked what i did no. but unlike romeo and juliet I wasnt in love with this person.
ReplyDelete1) at the beginning i know how it feels to like someone and not know if they feel the same way about you. That is really what kinda hooked my attention at the beginning. 2) the next would deffinately be having to stand up for people becuase they wont for themselves like what mercutio did for romeo and ended up dying for it.3) The last would be like the 4th and 5th act having a plan that didnt quite work out as planned. I tried making a pulley up to my tree house one time back in indiana the rope happened to break when i was on it surprise i was the one to get hurt.
ReplyDeletei can connect with romeo when he got back at tybalt for killing his friend. When people mess with my friends or mainly my brother then i constantly say something to that person and i always make my point that what they did was wrong.
ReplyDeleteI can also connect with what shaye said, when Romeo killed Tybalt because Tybalt killed Mercutio. I dont like when people mess with my friends. If they do i will have a say so in it. So if someone killed Shaye or Erica i would definately haunt them down just like Romeo did.
ReplyDeletei can relate to Juliet about how she likes romeo but her parents don't even know that and they tell her that she will have to like this other guy. because i liked this guy and my parents didn't know that i did and they would always talk about guys and point out people who they would like me to date and ones they want me to stay away from and the guy i liked wasn't on the good side.
ReplyDeleteAnother connection i can make is that juliet can always tell her nurse about things that are going on instead of her parents . I believe thats how it is with my cousin Taylor. I can tell her about things i would never tell my mom or dad probably not even my sister.
ReplyDeleteI can also connect to Benvolio because he is always the one that makes people in a better mood and he concludes arguements between people. I do this alot with people because i hate seeing people fight, like even when my sister and mom yell at each other, i just want to go to yell at them and tell them what i think but most of the time in ends up turning to were they are yelling at me for the same reasons they were yelling at each other.
ReplyDeleteI have friends like Mercutio that just say a bunch of stupid stuff and act really dumb but, it makes you feel a lot better. When your in a bad mood they talk and it makes you mad at first but then you just get happy and try to have a better time.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to the friar after he blames himself kind of for Romeo and Juliet's death. Things have happened to me where I sort of blame myself and sort of don't and I spend a lot of time thinking of other things I could have done differently and trying to make myself feel better.
ReplyDeleteI can also connect with Benvolio. He just tried to stay out of the way of things and not cause anyone to get mad at him and to make things cool. Benvolio helped things cool down a lot like when he told the prince about Romeo and Tybalt. He just got it over real quick and deal with it himself.
ReplyDeletei can connect to romeo whenever he takes revenge for his fallen friend mercrutio because i know if any of my friends got injured then i would be mad and want revenge
ReplyDeletei can connect to romeo whenever the nurse comes to get him and hes around his friends so he jokes along, because i know if i was with my friends and someone came along and they were making fun of them then i might not neccessarily jump in but i wouldn't probably leave my friends.

ReplyDeletei can connect with romeo at the wedding because i have been to many weddings and have even been in one but never the groom.
i can aslo connect with tybalt mercutio romeo and the various others who have been in a spat through out the play becaus i have been my share of fights.
